Publishing & Editing Services

Writing a short story, a blog post, a term paper or a novel can be a solitary and sometimes lonely endeavour. You get so close to your story, your characters and your words that you can no longer look at them with a critical eye. You need someone to help you see things in a different light.

Every author needs an editor to collaborate on their work, ensuring the writing has clarity, flow, meaning, impact and readability.

With a Master’s degree in both non-fiction and creative writing, I have the skills and experience to support you as you bring your offering into the world.

1. Dream — the idea

I can help you outline your story in a way that clarifies your ideas and gives you a roadmap to follow when you sit down to write. A brainstorming session gives the tools you need to ensure you know where your story is heading. No more writer’s block, no more spending hours on sections that might eventually be cut, no more meandering around in the desert.

During our two hours together, split over two one hour sessions, we will work together to articulate your story’s question, theme, plot and setting while still leaving room for your creativity. This outline is just a guide to get you started on your way. You can follow it religiously or throw it out the window depending on what your Muse has to say.

2. Development — the first/second draft

I will read your work and identify its strengths and weaknesses – looking at the story as it plays out on the page. I will provide a structural edit which will examine the overall flow and meaning of your words. This step gives you the tools you need to polish your work into its final draft.

3.  Refine — the final draft

Before your writing reaches the reader, all things must be in order. The copy-editing service makes sure you’ve crossed your t’s and dotted your i’s. I will check all your spelling, grammar and vocabulary to make sure your work is the best it can possibly be. No more finding the name of your main character spelled incorrectly on page 59.
